New statistics released by the British Beer and Pub Association have revealed the importance of beer and pubs sector in Bury St. Edmunds and the wider region.
Mrs Churchill said: “Bury St. Edmunds local pub and brewing industry currently provides approximately 2,500 jobs, 20% of which employs 16-24 year olds. Furthermore, through our beer and pubs we invest £10 million into our local economy, with an overall contribution of £126 million to our national GDP.
Further to this success, the East of England delivers just under 10% of all jobs in the beer and pubs industry in the UK.
These figures are hugely encouraging and confirm that the brewing sector is vital for Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk and the East of England.”
