It was fantastic to have the opportunity to volunteer at the Woolpit vaccination centre on Sunday. The amazing surgery staff & local volunteers delivered Coronavirus jabs to over 2,000 residents, the outstanding work of the leadership team of Woolpit Health Centre in delivering a well organised mass vaccination site, that was tweaked from their earlier delivery of a successful flu vaccination was remarkable. The operation was seamless, even in the wintry conditions we found ourselves in. People arrived at an allotted time, had their documentation checked and were then directed to their vaccination station. Patients did not have to leave their car, which is incredibly helpful for those with mobility issues or patients needing extra assistance, plus the added benefit of being warm inside the car!
I would also like to extend my thanks to the volunteers at the site and the thousands helping to deliver vaccines across the country. My job for the morning was to check patients had filled their documentation in before they received their jabs. It was a pleasure to see the joy in patients faces, who were extremely grateful. For all of us receiving a Coronavirus vaccine is a crucial part in getting back to some form of normality.
The vaccine is continuing to be rolled out at pace across the country. After seeing the professionalism and dedication of those involved at the Woolpit vaccination site and having seen the queues outside Guildhall surgery on Saturday morning waiting to receive theirs, I can guarantee we are committed to ensuring vaccine accessibility across the nation. I would urge everyone to get their vaccine when they are contacted. Together we can beat this virus.
