Led by Jo Churchill, Suffolk MPs hosted some of the finest food, drink and entertainment from across the region in Parliament, in an event held on Suffolk Day on Thursday 21st June.
Joining Jo were MPs Peter Aldous, James Cartlidge, Therese Coffey, Matt Hancock, Sandy Martin and Dr Dan Poulter, all who welcomed exhibitors from each of their constituencies in recognition of the day.
The event took Suffolk Day celebrations nationwide as MPs, staff and delegates from around the country welcomed the likes of Aspalls Cider, Fen Farm Dairy and Greene King to Westminster.
Speaking after the event, Jo Churchill MP said:
“Suffolk Day is about celebrating all that makes our county the best place to live. It is only right, therefore, that we took Suffolk Day nationwide and what better place to have done so than in our Parliament!
This event was about demonstrating how we embrace county life to the benefit of our community. Greene King does so much to put our town on the map and we are proud of their heritage and to have them at the heart of Bury St Edmunds.
Though it may only be in its second year, celebration of Suffolk Day is now well established. This event certainly captured this outstanding Suffolk spirit making it a worthy and fitting addition to the day’s festivities.”
Greg Sage of Greene King said:
“Suffolk Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate the county and successful businesses, large and small, who thrive in Suffolk. As a company with a 219 year history in Bury St Edmunds, we were delighted to be involved with the event to showcase our fine Suffolk beers brewed at our Westgate Brewery, including Greene King IPA, Abbot Ale, East Coast IPA, our award winning Heritage range and Strong Suffolk.”
