On Thursday 30th July at 3.00-4.00pm, Jo Churchill MP welcomed Minister of State for Housing and Planning, Mr Brandon Lewis MP, to see the College Mews development in Bury St Edmunds.
Jo Churchill said: “The College Mews joint venture between Havebury Housing and West Suffolk College has seen construction students working on site to build three houses and four flats. This is an innovative scheme that promotes housebuilding and apprenticeships across Suffolk and is thought to be the first of its kind anywhere in the country. I am delighted that the Minister was able to come to Bury St Edmunds to talk to local providers, the College and see this excellent programme in action.”
Housing Minister Brandon Lewis said:
"Our efforts have got Britain building with starts at their highest annual level since 2007, which means thousands of jobs – from plumbing to scaffolding - are now up for grabs.
"It's great to have seen in West Suffolk how apprentices are benefiting from these new opportunities, and we can continue to nurture our home-grown talent and build the homes we need for years to come."
