Last week I visited the A14 roadworks by Woolpit to see firsthand progress of the resurfacing works. The project starts from J47A and extends East for 3.5km towards J49.
Work continues apace with removal of the existing concrete pavement, washing, earthworks and 22,600t of warm asphalt laid to date.
Many constituents have raised with me the challenges of the traffic management and contraflow and the problems of rat running and speeding through local villages. I have previously and continue to raise these issues with National Highways, pushing hard to try drive delivery for as early as possible by certainly no later than early summer 2024. I have also asked for litter picking to be done whilst the road is closed.
Good progress has been made on this project and I look forward with many constituents to seeing its completion and a smooth new road in summer 2024.
