I know that the Prime Minister will govern in the national interest with integrity and compassion, and provide the strong leadership needed during these challenging times. He has set out a vision for this country to deliver the manifesto, unite our country, and protect both people and businesses. I know that he will deliver with the highest standards of professionalism, which will be the foundation stone in addressing the economic challenges we face at home and abroad, rebuilding the trust in our politics.
During the leadership contest, I was serving in my role as Vice Chamberlain in the Whips’ Office, where we are bound by impartiality and the importance of continuing to deliver government business, therefore I did not declare a preference. All I can say is that I could not be any more delighted with the outcome.
