I have met with Jesse Norman MP, Minister of State for Transport, along with other MPs from across Suffolk to raise the issues that currently exist with Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE) in Suffolk.
There are currently 21 areas in the country that do not have CPE. Six of these are in Suffolk. This is causing a real issue for residents, businesses and is adding unnecessary burden on the police. I have been working to resolve this issue for a significant time.
I was pleased that during our meeting with the Minister, it would appear that progress is being made to solve parking enforcement in Suffolk.
The Department for Transport and Suffolk County Council have worked together on this issue. The legislation should be brought forward by May at the latest and there is a strong commitment from the Department to fix this issue. This is great news and I will continue to monitor the situation closely.
