Earlier this week myself and other members of the OffSET Taskforce of MPs met with representatives from Ofgem and National Grid to raise our concerns about the East Anglia GREEN proposals and the lack of proper consultation our constituents have had.
During the meeting, National Grid outlined a number of actions they will be taking over the summer, which will result in more information being available to communities along the route. While I welcome this, it is regrettable that it took MPs vociferous lobbying on behalf of their constituents for the action to be taken and the ‘this is what you can have approach’ needs reviewing.
This was by no means the last such meeting we will have. I will continue to raise the local objections to the scheme and push Ministers to address the inconsistency of approach that the East of England is seeing compared to other UK regions and if necessary push for regulatory change to deliver what we need.
