I am delighted that West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust will be receiving seed funding to develop their scheme to future proof the hospital. This is fantastic news for our community. We will get the best equipment and a hospital configured to deliver high quality care to patients and a fit for purpose work environment for all who work there.
Our local hospital has delivered for many years beyond its planned life. We are a growing and indeed ageing community, which brings challenges for our local NHS which they have more than risen to. But time is not on our side.
It is for these reasons I have championed a new hospital in Bury since first being elected. Working with local stakeholders to campaign on this issue. This is not the end of the process. Instead it is the start of a new chapter for hospital facilities locally.
As I am sure you will appreciate, from the drawing board to the digger will not be quick. But we will make sure it is delivered together. It is for this reason that I have campaigned for funding to support the activities of our hospital to meet the increasing demand in the meantime.
