I was delighted to take part in a countryside walk as part of the Suffolk Walking Festival. This year’s festival had a wide range of walks and events, helping people discover our fantastic county.
It was particularly interesting to visit a redundant church on my excursion, but what I enjoyed most was talking to other walkers. They spoke about the different walks across our beautiful county, from the coast to Constable country and all bits in-between. The five day challenge is one I might however need to train a little harder for!
There are a number of health benefits that come from walking, both physical and mental. It would be great if walking became the natural choice for short journeys, especially in an area as picturesque as ours. Walking more and leaving the car at home would also reduce emissions, benefitting the environment as well.
Our rich local history and environment is often best explored through walks. Whether it is a trip to Needham Lakes or a church to church walk between villages, similar to the one I did as part of the festival.
I would strongly recommend exploring over the summer period and beyond!
