The work of Our Bury St Edmunds & Stowmarket Town council has ensured that customers can shop confidently and safely, with measures in place to ensure social distancing measures can be followed.
Non-essential shops are continuing to reopen as part of the government’s gradual easing of lockdown measures, and it is important to celebrate the businesses that make Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket unique.
This weekend I popped into Bury St Edmunds to do some shopping, pick up a present for Father’s day and speak to local business owners about the gradual reopening of our high street. I was extremely impressed with the work carried out by Our Bury St Edmunds and West Suffolk Council to ensure that we’re open for business. The businesses of Bury St Edmunds have been working extremely hard to welcome customers back. Everyone was really positive.
I have also spoken with Stowmarket Town Council about their shop safe scheme. I will be visiting Stowmarket town centre shortly to speak with local businesses and get some feedback on what they need from government in order to begin returning to business as usual.
I urge constituents to shop local if you can and support our amazing local businesses.
