Jo Churchill MP has welcomed Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP’s announcement of a new deal for GPs.
Mrs Churchill said: “On Friday 19th June, the Secretary of State announced that the focus of GP recruitment was going to be on the most under-doctored areas across the country. He has recognised that a huge surge in appointment demand and an ageing population has resulted in increased pressure on GPs, who increasingly feel undervalued and overwhelmed.
I am pleased there is recognition for this problem. I have spoken at length with Combs Ford Surgery and a number of constituents who have raised concerns about the pressures placed upon the practice. There has been some difficulty with recruiting GPs.
I have therefore written to the Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP to ask him what his department will do to assist practices in my constituency. I want to ensure they receive the support they need and that my constituents continue to receive a first rate service.
