New figures released by the Association of Convenience Stores demonstrate the importance of local shops to the Bury St. Edmunds economy.
Mrs Churchill said: “Within the constituency, we have 83 convenience stores providing jobs for 631 staff. On average, that is approximately 8 staff members per store.
Further to this, as of 2014 74% of all store owners within the East of England, have been new investors.
I am thrilled to see that Bury St Edmunds is leading the region in providing a place for local businesses to thrive. It just goes to show that the thriving retail sector is a key component of the regional economy. I aim to help build upon this success and champion the business sector across my constituency and the region.”
