On Friday 27th May Jo Churchill MP visited Orchard Barn, a local social enterprise specialising in natural and traditional building projects. She met with over thirty dedicated staff and volunteers at the Environmental Education Centre. Here, Mrs Churchill attended talks outlining the history of the area and its pioneering relationship with timber framing. She also had a go at making an oak peg and visited the site of a restoration of a nineteenth century cart lodge.
Jo Churchill MP said: “I enjoyed the visit to Orchard Barn and to see for myself so many volunteers committed to the restoration and championing of sustainable woodworking methods. It was a pleasure to witness traditional restoration and construction skills being taught within the community.”
