On Wednesday 12th October, Jo Churchill MP attended a Parliamentary Reception held by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Baby Loss. The event was in support of the annual Baby Loss Awareness Week, this year held from Sunday 9th October- Friday 15th October.
Speaking about the event and the awareness week, Jo Churchill MP said:
“In 2015, around 3,000 babies died before their first birthday and agonisingly, many die with no cause of death. The loss of a child at any age is one of the hardest things for any parent. However, the loss of a new-born is especially devastating for parents and families, and can have long term effects.
We have some superb baby loss bereavement services at our West Suffolk Hospital yet, not all areas are so fortunate. From my own personal experience, having had family members and friends who have suffered this loss, I am only too aware that the heartbreak never goes away. That is why it is so important to raise awareness for baby loss and ensure that we have the best services and bereavement care in place to support families, across the whole of the UK.”
