Following on from the recent Spending Review, Jo Churchill MP welcomes the announcement that the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership and local authority partners have secured Government support for ten new Enterprise Zones across Suffolk and Norfolk.
This will create 5,000 new jobs by 2021, rising to 18,500 over the lifetime of the Zone. Development will begin in March 2016.
Bury St Edmunds constituency will welcome two new sites located on the Suffolk Business Park just east of Moreton Hall as well as an extension to Mill Lane Business and Enterprise Park in Stowmarket. The sites will integrate into the local area and work with local businesses.
Jo Churchill MP said: “I am delighted by this announcement of two new Enterprise Zones in my constituency as part of a regional expansion of Enterprise Zones. These sites will attract new business to the area and put the East on the world map. It will also link with the region’s innovation centres and Universities; helping to drive skills and wages upwards. The expansion will deliver benefits to companies including a business rate discount of up to £275,000 over five years, simplifying planning and access to Superfast broadband.
This announcement goes to show that the potential of the ‘Eastern powerhouse’ is being recognised. My interest is to ensure that this commitment is supported by improvements to our transport infrastructure to deliver the East’s full potential.”
