Jo met with local providers of the Young Enterprise Scheme at West Suffolk College. The Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading enterprise and financial education charity. and gives young people – from all backgrounds – the opportunity to realise their full potential through a range of practical enterprise programmes, from one day masterclasses to year-long projects. The scheme builds on 5 key skills: Communication, Teamwork, Problem-solving, Creativity and Resilience and each year works with over 250,000 young people aged 4-25, supported by a network of 5,000 volunteers and 3,500 businesses.
Some Young Entrepreneurs from Thurston Community College presented their products and a number of businesses that support the YES locally highlighted the opportunities and barriers surrounding providing opportunities to young people.
